Manual Import

Manual Import

Use this guide to export your trade history from Interactive Brokers as a CSV file that journl. can import.

1. Open Flex Queries

  1. Open Interactive Brokers.
  2. Go to Performance & Reports.
  3. Open Flex Queries.
  4. Create a new query using the + action.
  5. Set the query name to journlExport.

2. Select the required sections

Add the following fields to your export:

  • Account ID
  • Currency
  • Asset Class
  • Symbol
  • Underlying Symbol
  • Multiplier
  • Put/Call
  • Trade ID
  • Order ID
  • Date/Time
  • Settle Date
  • Buy/Sell
  • Quantity
  • Proceeds
  • Net Cash
  • Commission
  • Broker Execution Commission
  • Broker Clearing Commission
  • Third Party Execution Commission
  • Third Party Clearing Commission
  • Other Commission
  • Code
  • Conid

3. Configure delivery settings

  • Format: CSV
  • Include header and trailer records: No
  • Include column headers: Yes
  • Display single column header row: No
  • Include section code and line descriptor: No
  • Period: Today

4. Configure general settings

  • Date format: yyyyMMdd
  • Time format: HHmmss
  • Date/time separator: semicolon
  • Include canceled trades: No
  • Include audit trail fields: No
  • Display account alias in place of Account ID: No

5. Save and run the query

  1. Continue through the IBKR flow and save the query.
  2. Run the query when you want to export trades.
  3. Select the date range you want to export.
  4. Download the CSV output.
  5. Upload that file into journl.

journl. deduplicates imported trades, so exporting an overlapping date range is fine.
