Notes & Review

Notes & Review

Notes & Review is your freeform space to capture the full story behind a trade. This is where you write down what you saw, what you expected, what actually happened, and what you want to remember next time.

What this section is for

Trade data can tell you the result, but it usually cannot explain your reasoning. Notes & Review fills that gap. It helps you document context, decision making, execution quality, mistakes, and lessons from the trade in your own words.

What to write here

Pre trade idea

Write down what attracted you to the setup, what you expected from the move, and what conditions made the trade valid for you.

Execution review

Capture how well you executed the trade compared to your plan. This can include entry quality, exit quality, sizing, patience, and any adjustments you made while the trade was live.

What went well

Highlight the parts you want to repeat. Good reviews are not only about mistakes. They should also reinforce strong behavior and solid process.

What needs improvement

Be specific about errors or missed opportunities. Clear notes make it easier to spot patterns across trades later.

Next time

End with one practical takeaway. A short action point is often more useful than a long generic conclusion.

Suggested review flow

  1. Summarize the idea behind the trade.
  2. Describe what happened during execution.
  3. Note what you did well.
  4. Note what you would change.
  5. Finish with one lesson or action for future trades.

Why this matters

Over time, this section becomes one of the most valuable parts of the journal. It helps you find repeated behaviors, improve decision making, and build a review process that is based on evidence instead of memory.

The best notes are clear and honest. They do not need to be long. They only need to be useful when you read them again later.
